ITA • Ci sono storie che colpiscono l’immaginario individuale e collettivo toccando i livelli più profondi dell’animo e spesso sono storie inventate per risvegliare le emozioni degli spettatori. Poi ci sono le storie vere che a volte superano quella di fantasia e incidono con ancora maggior vigore nella coscienza di chi le ascolta. Storie che si concludono in modo tragico come quella di Chris McCandless, fissata dalla penna di un giornalista, Jon Krakauer e trasformata in un film di successo da Sean Penn con la colonna sonora scritta di Eddie Vedder. Storie che grazie a una canzone ispirano un festival di fotografia come il BìFoto Fest.
Proprio all’interno di quest’ultimo nasce Society. Ho perso la strada tra le tue mura, un progetto site specific degli studenti di FPschool scuola di fotografia di Milano. Il lavoro è iniziato con la visione del film Into the Wild, che narra le vicende di Chris McCandless, un giovane americano che rinuncia alla tranquilla esistenza assicurata dal suo status sociale per avventurarsi nella natura selvaggia dell’Alaska dove troverà la morte. La lettura dei testi di Krakauer e di Carine McCandless, sorella di Chris, ha consentito poi di approfondire gli aspetti più intimi della vicenda generando quel terreno di coltura di cui si è nutrita l’interpretazione di Andrea Botturi, Raffaella Bova e Luigi Schirinzi.
Quello che è emerso dopo un lungo processo di produzione e selezione, è un mosaico in cui lo spettatore è invitato a perdersi e riconoscersi, a confrontarsi e riflettere sul proprio rapporto con la società contemporanea. Il gioco di richiami e relazioni è sottolineato nell’allestimento dai fili che collegano le immagini suggerendo possibili percorsi di lettura e stimolando associazioni e rimandi che si propongono al pubblico per ulteriori interpretazioni. Il legame tra le singole immagini, esplicitato dai fili di lana che le collegano, crea una sorta di tessitura che svela il sentimento che accomuna i tre autori, ma al tempo stesso vuole essere un omaggio implicito alle tradizioni di Mogoro e alle radici del festival che ha permesso la realizzazione di questo progetto.

ENG • There are stories that capture the individual and collective imagination, touching the deepest levels of the soul, and they are often invented stories to arouse the emotions of the audience. Then there are true stories, which sometimes surpass the fictional ones and affect the consciousness of their listeners with even greater force. Stories that end tragically, like that of Chris McCandless, recorded by the journalist Jon Krakauer and turned into a hit film by Sean Penn with a soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. Stories that, thanks to a song, inspire a photo festival such as the one in which the BìFoto Fest Society was born.
Society. Ho perso la strada tra le tue mura, a site-specific project by students of the FPschool in Milan, began with a viewing of the film Into the Wild, which tells the story of Chris McCandless, a young American who abandons the tranquil existence guaranteed by his social status to venture into the Alaskan wilderness, where he will find death. The reading of the texts by Krakauer and Carine McCandless, Chris’s sister, made it possible to delve into the more intimate aspects of the story, creating a breeding ground for the performance by Andrea Botturi, Raffaella Bova and Luigi Schirinzi.
What emerged, after a long process of production and selection, is a mosaic in which the spectator is invited to lose himself and recognise himself, to confront and reflect on his own relationship with contemporary society. The play of references and relationships is underlined in the installation by the threads that connect the images, suggesting possible readings and stimulating associations and cross-references that offer the audience further interpretations. The link between the individual images, made explicit by the woollen threads that connect them, creates a kind of weave that reveals the sentiment that unites the three authors, but is at the same time intended as an implicit homage to the traditions of Mog oro and to the roots of the festival that made this project possible.

Andrea Botturi / Nato a Milano nel 1973, dopo la maturità classica ha intrapreso gli studi di medicina specializzatosi in Neurologia e in Psichiatria e conseguendo un dottorato in Farmacologia. Lavora a Milano in un Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico dedicato alle patologie neurologiche. Da sempre appassionato di immagini, negli ultimi anni ha frequentato con assiduità mostre fotografiche e corsi, dirigendo la propria attenzione su contesti di fotografia urbana e successivamente sul ritratto.
Raffaella Bova / Nata a Napoli nel 1981, si è avvicinata alla fotografia da bambina ispirata dal padre. Nel 2014 si è trasferita a Milano, dove vive e lavora, e solo nel 2020 che ha deciso di dedicarsi con continuità alla fotografia con un percorso di studi presso la FPschool di Milano. Nel 2022, nell’ambito del corso avanzato di fotografia, tenuto da Sandro Iovine, nasce il suo primo progetto fotografico Al di là della paura, presentato ed esposto durante la mostra Incontri.
Luigi Schirinzi / Nasce a Rimini nel 1973 dove coltiva il primo interesse per la fotografia accompagnando il nonno Giuseppe, ex-fotografo di guerra, in camera oscura. Cresciuto a Riccione ha frequentato il liceo classico Dante Alighieri per poi trasferirsi a Bologna e conseguire la Laurea in Giurisprudenza. Nel 2004 si è trasferito definitivamente a Milano dove tutt’ora vive con la propria famiglia continuando quotidianamente ad approfondire la passione per la fotografia.

Andrea Botturi / Born in Milan in 1973, he studied medicine, specialising in neurology and psychiatry, and obtained a doctorate in pharmacology. He works in Milan at a scientific institute for hospitalisation and treatment of neurological pathologies. He has always had a passion for images and in recent years he has been a keen participant in photography exhibitions and courses, turning his attention to urban photography and then to portraiture.
Raffaella Bova / Born in Naples in 1981, she began taking photographs as a child, inspired by her father. In 2014 she moved to Milan, where she lives and works, and it was only in 2020 that she decided to devote herself to photography with a course at the FPschool in Milan. In 2022, as part of the advanced photography course taught by Sandro Iovine, she created her first photographic project, Al di là della paura, which was presented and exhibited at the Incontri exhibition.
Luigi Schirinzi / He was born in Rimini in 1973, where he first became interested in photography by accompanying his grandfather Giuseppe, a former war photographer, to the darkroom. He grew up in Riccione and attended the classical high school Dante Alighieri before moving to Bologna where he graduated in law. In 2004 he moved permanently to Milan, where he still lives with his family and pursues his passion for photography on a daily basis.
